Obituary for Janos Zoltan "John" Erdei
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our Father at his home in Victoria, BC. He is lovingly remembered by his son (Shaun), daughter (Monica) and grandson (Lucas).
Dad was born in Debrecen, Hungary where he developed a passion for football in the wake of the great Ferenc Puskas. In 1956 he left everything behind and came to Canada, staying with the Pearce family in Victoria. Once introduced to hockey he became a dedicated Montreal Canadiens fan and also enjoyed swimming, tennis, gardening and cars, especially his '57 Chev. He started a family with his first wife Marion while working for BC Forest Products and then later with Victoria Plywood. Dad lived his life his way and remained independent until the end.
