Thompson, Jean Mary (Nee: Furtney)
March 25th, 1921 -September 14th, 2022
At the age of 101 years, Jean Mary Thompson, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, passed away on Wednesday, September 14th, 2022 at the Royal Jubilee Hospital, Victoria, BC.
She will be lovingly remembered by sister Edna, her children Michael (Maureen), Edwin (Kim), David (Carolina) and Derrick; grandchildren, Brian, Steven, Adrianna; Connor and Kiera; Santiago and Laura. She will also be dearly missed by all of her nephews, nieces and their children. We are especially grateful for her niece Penny, for all the care and compassion that she showed to our mother. Jean will also be remembered by her friends at St. Aidan’s United and Broad View United Churches.
She was predeceased by sister Lillian and her loving husband of 25 years, Lt.Cdr. John William Thompson RCAF.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, October 15th, 2022 at Broad View United Church, 2625 Arbutus Road, Victoria, BC.
Memorial Donations may be made in Jean Mary Thompson’s name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC and Yukon, 885 Dunsmuir St Suite #200, Vancouver, BC V6C 1N5.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at the Royal Jubilee Hospital for their care and compassion. We also wish to thank all the blood donors that supported our mother throughout her lifetime.
