Obituary for Kieran Patrick Allen Harper

Kieran was tragically taken from our lives on February 29, 2024.

He will be missed by his loving Momma Carrie-Ann Harper of Mill Bay, his dad Dave Harper of Barrhead, AB, his half sister and brother Cassandra Bauer and David Harper of Edmonton, AB and his grandparents David and Sheryle Harper of Pine Sands, AB and Ed Lyderik of Cowichan Bay, BC.

Kieran is survived by his uncles; Greg Lyderik and his children Brodie, Braden and Kyle and their mom Carol Ann; Colin Lyderik; Darren Harper and his daughter Falon; Darcy Harper and his children Darcy and Enya; Aunts Shauna Horvath and her children Brielle and Parker; Kirsten Lyderik and her son Dylan Whittaker and his special cousin/brother Seth Wilson and cousin Sydney Lyderik.

He was predeceased by his loving Grandmother Lena Lyderik and Great Baba Elizabeth Guindon.

Kieran was born in Edmonton, AB and lived for a short time in Rich Valley, AB before he and his mom moved to the Cowichan Valley and settled on Cherry Point Road. He attended Bench Elementary and then Frances Kelsey Secondary School where he was set to graduate in June. School was a huge part of the beginning of a love of music for Kieran, including learning saxophone at Bench and music production at Kelsey. He was just getting ready to produce his own album (which we will finish for him!) He had been accepted to the University of Toronto this fall for Music.

Kieran was a respectful, happy and make you light up the world kind of young man. He accepted everyone as someone and has amazing friends all over the Cowichan Valley and cherished each and every one of them.

A special thank you to the first responders and RCMP who tried to help Kieran that morning.

The overwhelming support from the community, parents, Bench and Kelsey PAC has not gone unnoticed and is hard to put into words. So many people have helped, supported and donated in ways we can never repay. It means the world to me to have Kieran's friends visit our home, tell stories and listen to his music, it is truly all of you who have helped me get through these initial days.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Mellor Hall, 7380 Trans Canada Highway, Duncan, BC on Friday March 8, 2024. The formal part of the service will start promptly at 2:00 PM followed by a slideshow. 3:00-6:00 PM will be a time to share stories and dance to Kieran's music. Everyone is welcome to attend, bring your dancing shoes!
