Obituary for Loraine Marilyn Smith (Coulthard)

Loraine passed away peacefully on February 12 at the age 87, at the Ayre Manor in Sooke. She was born and raised in Indian Head, Saskatchewan where she graduated from High School. Following High School she took a business course in Regina and joined the naval reserve at HMCS Naden, where she met Elmer Smith. His Navy career took them to Victoria, BC as well as 2 years in Inuvik, NWT.

In her youth, Loraine was very active, singing in the church and school choirs, playing tenor saxaphone in the band, and spending summers at the family cottage where she was a swimming instructor and life guard. She loved golfing and curling from an early age and those interests carried on throughout her life.

Loraine was predeceased by Elmer, her husband of 57 years, her father Kernan Coulthard, and mother Josephine Coulthard. Loraine is survived by her sons Wayne [Cheryl], grandsons Rob, Tyler [Julia] and great-grandson Walker: Son Brian [Lucy-Ann], Grandson Jordan [Cara], great-granddaughters Blake and Brooklyn: Grandson Brandan [Maressa], Great-Granddaughters Ella and Addison: Grandson Devan [Jaelyn]: Sister Willa [Ted, deceased], Brother Bill [Maureen] and many nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces and cousins.

The family would like to send special thanks to all the staff and administration at the Ayre Manor for making Loraine part of your family.
