Obituary for Mary Czornobay (Korney)

Mary Czornobay (nee Korney) quietly passed away on December 27, 2020 at age 90 at Rest Haven Lodge in Sidney BC.

Mary was born in Endeavour SK in 1930, married Michael (Mike) in 1948, and is lovingly remembered by her five children Barb (Wakeford) of Sidney BC, Linda (Critchley) of Cochrane AB, Michelle of Langley BC, Susan (Charles) of Surrey BC, and Brent of Sidney BC, as well as six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband of 69 years Mike, parents Roy and Anne Korney, brothers Andrew, Norman, Michael and Lawrence, sisters Gladys (Kortello) and Veloy (Buchinski) and is survived by brothers Paul and Joe and sisters Nora (Bryk) and Jeanette (Jaques).

Mary and Mike maintained a close-knit family which began in Endeavor and later expanded in Loon Lake, Meadow Lake, and Regina.

Mike and Mary relocated from Regina to Sidney in 2007 where she enjoyed her plants (indoors and outdoors), the view of ocean from her kitchen table, going for walks, baking, spending time at the Mount Newton Centre, attending St. Andrew Anglican Church, and volunteering at the church’s soup kitchen. She was an avid Saskatchewan Roughriders fan and enjoyed watching hockey and listening to old-time country music.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Mount Newton Centre Society at the following link https://mountnewtoncentre.org/donate/

Mary's family will hold a private celebration of her life and Mary's ashes will be buried beside Mike’s in his family's cemetery near Endeavour SK at a later date.
