It is with sadness that we gather today to say our final good-bye to Michael Todd Schofield of Victoria, B.C., formerly of Waterville, N. S. Mike was born on October 27, 1969, in Toronto, and brought to Nova Scotia shortly thereafter by his mother Sylvia Schofield. His early years were spent in Nova Scotia, and he attended school at Horton and Kingston.
Mike enjoyed camping, fishing, baseball, swimming, and all outdoor activities. He had an abundance of energy, and a physical strength unequalled by others in his age group. Early in life Mike enjoyed working with the Amusement Rides, where he reveled in the travel and the unique personalities he encountered. Mike also worked as a long-haul truck driver over the ice roads in Northern Alberta, a job not for the faint-hearted.
Mike is survived by his uncle, Ken Schofield; aunts, Pansy Blenus, Sharon (Robert) Rockwell, and Ruby (Allan) Lawrence; and numerous cousins. He is also survived by his long-time friend and mentor, Claude Ogilivie. He was predeceased by his mother, Sylvia Schofield on January 16, 2022; his stepfather, Edgar Hamilton, Jr.; grandparents, Morris and Ruby (Redden) Schofield; and uncle, Malcolm Schofield.
A graveside service took place in Waterville Cemetery, Waterville, N.S., at 2 p.m., on Sunday, October 2nd, 2022, with Pastor Christina Bigelow officiating. Mike was laid to rest beside his mother.
