Obituary for William 'Barry' Ibbott

Barry went home to Heaven on January 9 th, 2023. There was peace in the room, family and lots of love. Our Dad was the kindest man most have ever met, never heard him say mean words and always had a quiet strength. There is a life time of memories, here are a few highlights:

- Born in Lashburn, SK. Only child of Bill and Nora.
- Dad was a bank manager for most of his working career. Fun fact: He was the youngest bank
manager in Saskatchewan at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. Funny story how that
came to happen.
- Dad has 4 children. First born, Sandra, died at birth and is buried in Moose Jaw, SK. Glen, Lynda
and Greg were with Barry when he took his last breath.
- As a family we moved all over Saskatchewan and then out to British Columbia in 1974. Over to
Vancouver Island a few years later, we settled in Nanaimo. In Nanaimo, Mom and Dad had big
memories, big success and big challenges such as 3 teenagers all at once.
- Dad and Mom moved back to the Lower Mainland and settled in Langley and then White Rock.
Dad loved White Rock. Coffee with friends; walking the beach; church and family. A full life.
- Dad picked up his life and carried on after Mom went to Heaven in 2009.
- His 5 Grandkids loved their Grandpa and were blessed to be able to see Grandpa over this last
Christmas.
- Our Dad was not just our Dad. He was Dad, Pops and Grandpa to many. He loved you all as his
own.
- Our Dad had Parkinson’s Disease and was open about it, an advocate and such a positive
example of how to handle such an awful disease.

Our Dad left us with this assignment….words he said throughout his life:
“Don’t let life get you down kid”
